The local unit of the French carmaker, Renault, has emerged as the sixth-largest selling carmaker in India trouncing the Japanese automobile major Honda Cars India (HCIL). The maker of Kwid and Duster sold 11,837 units last month registering a growth of 173 percent, while Honda Cars India sold 11,407 units in the same month with a decline of 38 percent.
This is the second time Renault outsold Honda in India, first instance being in April 2016. Honda sold 10,486 units in April compared to 12,426 units sold by Renault.
Kwid saw a month-on-month growth of 41 percent in June mainly because the French carmaker observed a no-production day for regular maintenance in May.
