About 82% of India’s population lives in areas at risk of malaria transmission.
India aims to be malaria-free by 2030. The country accounts for 70% of malaria cases and 69% of malaria deaths among Southeast Asian countries.
However, the amount spent by India per at-risk capita for malaria control was the lowest in the region (almost negligible), according to a 2015 World Health Organisation report.
