SportsPro, the London magazine that bills itself “the leader in global sports industry news, views, insights and features” released its annual list of the Top 50 Most Marketable Athletes in the World and it’s topped by … a tennis player with a 7-9 record this year.
21-year-old Canadian Genie Bouchard tops the list, followed by Brazilian soccer star Neymar, Masters champion Jordan Spieth, swimmer Missy Franklin and Formula 1 racer Lewis Hamilton.
Not on the list: Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova. Grigor Dimitrov ranks ahead of Novak Djokovic. Caroline Wozniacki is No. 30. Her old beau, and Tiger Woods-in-training, Rory McIlroy, comes in at No. 17 while Tiger is nowhere to be found. Looking for LeBron or Kevin Durant? Don’t look too hard, they’re not there either. Neither is Bryce Harper. But there’s Genie Bouchard, sitting at No. 1.
