top-selling Camry

Toyota Motor Corporation, the world’s largest carmaker, launched new versions of its top-selling Camry executive sedan in India, with the hybrid variant available for Rs 31.9 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Buyers of the hybrid Camry will get a small subsidy from the government, which is offering incentives to promote alternative energy vehicles. The petrol version of the Camry will be sold at Rs 28.8 lakh, although a Toyota executive said customers prefer the more expensive hybrid variant.

The new hybrid is being targeted primarily at companies and institutional customers and will be covered under the government’s Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles in India (FAME), which offers a cash subsidy.
