In a bid to increase its market share in the Indian market, Renault is currently working on several new products. The company, recently, launched its first compact MPV – the Lodgy – in the Indian market, and is now planning to bring in its first ever small car to the Indian market – the XBA aka Kayou on May 20th. After the small car, the company will enter some more new segments including the sub-compact SUV.
Here’s a list of the cars that Renault is planning for India.
New Sub-Compact SUV
In an earlier report we said that Renault is currently on a sub-compact SUV for India to position below the Duster. Though it still isn’t clear what product the French automaker will bring in, Auto Plus – A French magazine – had claimed last month that it would be an all new product. Upon its launch the new vehicle will take on the likes of Ford EcoSport and other upcoming sub-4 metre SUVs. In fact, the company has already started testing a new mini SUV outside India.

Renault XBA aka Kayou Hatchback
Renault-Nissan alliance is currently working on a new 800cc 3-cylinder petrol engine, which will power their upcoming small cars. The new cars are expected to be based on CMF-A platform, which too has been jointly developed by Renault-Nissan. Though both the small car will share most parts and components, there will be huge design changes as the alliance is no more in support of badge-engineering products. Since it will be the company’s global product, it will first enter the Indian market this year, followed by other emerging markets like Brazil and South Africa.

New-Generation Renault Duster
First introduced in 2010, the Renault Duster aka Dacia Duster has been fetching good numbers of the French carmaker around the world. Now the company is working on the new-gen model of the car, which will get an all new design and features. The new-gen Duster is likely to be about 20mm longer than the current model in order to offer an additional row of seats. The new-gen Duster is likely to share its styling with the Duster Oroch concept that was showcased at the Sao Paulo Motor Show. Besides offering additional features and a different design, the company might also tweak its existing engines to offer better fuel efficiency
