WITH 420 existing factories, plus 30 more under construction, China has become the largest producer in the global robotics industry, according to China Robot Industrial Alliance president Qu Daokui, who was quoted by the official Xinhua news agency.
AT a robotics forum in Shanghai, Qu said the robotics field, along with the internet, would transform global manufacturing, leading China to a golden decade for the development of industrial robots designed and produced domestically. The country has gone from not having any national companies in the sector to becoming the world’s largest developer of industrial robots in 2013.
In the last decade, production costs of these robots has fallen by five per cent every year, while Chinese salaries increased by 10 per cent on a year-on-year basis.
