The oldest female rhino of the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve today died at a rhino rehabilitation area, officials said.
Death of 48-year-old Himrani was described by officials as “quite natural”, though an autopsy is being conducted to ascertain the exact cause of her death.
Himrani was found lying in ailing condition on the road in Kakraha forests, yesterday, Deputy Director, Dudhwa Tiger Reserve. After Himrani’s death, the rhino family in Dudhwa has thirty members. This excludes the two young calves whose birth has been reported a few weeks ago.
