Onion Samosa


Maida – 1 cup
Oil – 1/4 cup
Onion ( big ) – 1/4 kilo
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Coriander powder – 1/4 cup
Garam masala powder – 1 tsp
Chilli powder – 1 tsp
Cumin powder – 1 tsp
Sugar – 3 tsp
Lime juice – 3 tsp
Asafoetida – a pinch
Bengal gram flour – 1/2 cup
Salt – as needed
Oil – as needed


1. Mix maida, salt, oil in a bowl and knead to a dough.
2. Cut onion finely.
3. Heat oil in a frying pan.
4. Add onion, fry for a few minutes and remove from stove.
5. Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, cumin powder, asofoetida, sugar, lime juice, mix well and set aside.
6. Heat oil in a frying pan.
7. Add mustard and when it splutters, add bengal gram flour and fry till golden.
8. Add onion mix, stir well and switch off the stove.
9. Heat a skillet.
10. Take a small portion of the dough, roll into a circle, cook on both sides and set aside.
11. Cut this into strips.
12. Shape a strip like a cone, place the onion mix , seal a dset aside.
13. REpeat the process.
14. Heat oil in a frying pan.
15. Add samosas, fry till crisp and serve hot.
